Rondino won the 4th race at Warwick Farm on the 13th June 2022. Like many Shamus Award geldings – Roni has been a work in progress. He is a big strong gelding with plenty of heart and his determination and speed was shown at Warwick Farm, over the 1600m journey. Placegetters were the Waller & Waterhouse trained, Mystic Mermaid & Journalism. Rondino was ably ridden by App.Tyler Schiller

This win was then followed up by another win at Warwick Farm over the same distance on the 27th July. Instead of a track rating of a soft 6, the track was now a Heavy 10 due to the Sydney big wet. Rondino was ridden by a senior rider K McEvoy and defeated So Sneeky (A Turner) and Niccohet (J Coyle). Better odds of 10/1.

Rondinos Spring win came on the 27th September, this time at Rosehill Gardens. Rondino was running over the 2400m trip, on a track rated a Good 4. Rondino was able to win by 3.6l, in defeating Deniliquin (J Thompson) & Just a Jedi (Ryan & Alexiou). Rondino was again ridden by App. Tyler Schiller

In November Rondino was able to win the Alf Kneebone Trans Tasman Trophy over the distance of 1850m at Newcastle with prizemoney of $150,000.00. Rondino showed his customary determination and will to win and weaved his way through the gaps available. Again ably ridden by Tyler Schiller. Rondino defeated Global Ausbred (B Widdup) and Criaderas (J Cummings). The owners appreciated the win and the good odds paying over $10.00. The win and effort achieved by both horse and trainer speaks for it self, after a 4 week let up and back in distance from 2400m to the 1850m, amazing.

What a great 6 months had by Rondino and the stable/owners. Rondino has now amassed over $277,000.00 in prizemoney and bonus. Rondino has now won 6 races and placed 4 times from only 18 starts. He has won from 1500m to 2400m and on track surfaces ranging from a Good 4 & to those in between and a Heavy 10.
